The Boy Scouts of America, much to my amusement, allows Scouts to use the trudgen stroke in certain swim tests. It is to my amusement because almost no Scout has ever heard of it and, at a conceptual level, it seems ludicrous to create a stroke comprised of the free style stroke’s arm movements and the scissor kick of the sidestroke. In this link, for the first time I see the trudgen defined and demonstrated in persuasive manner.
